Calling All True Patriots
First of all - Go Patriots. (they play tonight 8: 30 ET, ESPN) I think they have really good chances tonight of beating the Minnesota Vikings by a good 134 points. But anyways - so far this season NE has looked good on both defense and offense and really has stepped up their special teams production. However one of the more amazing parts of this season is how much the Patriots have NOT missed all the important players that left before and during this season! Below is a list of some of the players that left the Pat's this offseason and how their doing with their new teams. Notice with the exceptions of Adam Vinatieri and Deion Branch all of the rest of this group has had their production dramatically decrease! (if your still reading this and you don't know who the Patriots are - or don't care - then congratulations!)
* Kicker Adam Vinatieri (Colts) -- 3 games, 10-of-10 on field goals, 7-of-7 on point-after attempts, 1 touchback
* Receiver Deion Branch (Seahawks) -- 4 games, 3 starts, 15 catches for 216 yards, 2 touchdowns
* Wide receiver David Givens (Titans) -- 4 games, 8 catches, 104 yards 0 touchdowns
* Offensive tackle Tom Ashworth (Seahawks) -- 6 games played, all as a reserve; set to make first start Sunday vs. the Chiefs
* Outside linebacker Willie McGinest (Browns) -- 5 games, 12 tackles, 2 sacks
* Reveiver Tim Dwight (Jets) -- 5 games, 2 starts, 8 catches for 49 yards; 5 punt returns for 37 yards (7.4 avg.)
* Receiver Andre Davis (Bills) -- 7 games, 1 start, 0 catches
* Tight end Christian Fauria (Redskins) -- 7 games, 0 starts, 2 catches for 17 yards
This should be a lesson to any Patriots player that is thinking of jumping ship....
Of course (and naturally) the Patriot MVP so far has to be Me. I have bravely watched every Pat's games so far, which of course - has inspired them to greatness. Where they would be without me is mindboggling -even unthinkable. Hey- just look at how bad the Red Sox did this season. Case closed.

Going 4th again
We went 3 & 1 at the SNOW round robin - pretty much what I was expecting. We won both of the times we were negative and lost once as affirmative on topicalty (the neg. team didn't have one piece of evidence against our plan... nice....) but overall our Aff case worked pretty well.
Interesting note - last debate year we finished in 4th place at SNOW - guess where we ended up yesterday? 4th.....

Thing One eats Thing Two...
I guess you can change the old saying of "dog eats dog world" to "bird eats bird world". Hope Mr. pelican enjoyed the meal....

RI Senate election 2006 - Bad Vs. Worse
The question of the year - which is worse - a liberal Republican or a liberal Democrat?
In my view the only reason Chaffee won the 2000 election was 1st - the Democrat running against him was pro life, Chaffee is pro death and 2d'ly, Chaffee's father (John Chaffee a one time roommate of Sheldon Whitehouse father...) , a popular RI Senator for many years had just died. However, Chaffee doesn't have any of those factors going for him anymore. Whitehouse is pro death, and the John Chaffee isn't going to pull out any voters this year. So basically - it makes sense that Chaffee numbers are so poor.
But back to the question of which is worse, Sheldon or Lincoln. If I had a vote I would be tempted to vote for myself or John Chaffee. John Chaffee? Let me quickly explain. Lincoln Chaffee voted for George H. W. Bush in the 2004 presidental election - and when asked about it he said something to the effect of "yeah that was a message" (to president Bush on how much he supports him). Well - I would be very inclined to return the favor and "send a message" to Chaffee about what I think of his voting record by voting for his dad. However - only the chance that he might be the deciding factor in who controls the Senate, GOP or the DemoRats would keep me from doing that.
Thanks to Karl Rove and the RNC, Rhode Island voters will be faced with Bad Vs. Worse.

Duck, Duck, Duck, Goose!
I now have over 1000 pages of debate evidence! HaaHaa!! Power!.....
One thing that's bad about doing so much research on the subject this year is that I now realize that there are no good affirmative cases. There's only o-k ones. But that's not really too much of a problem because I like being negative more then affirmative anyways. But it does pose a problem for 50% of the time that I have to be affirmative... We'll just have to figure out a way to win anyways......
The Yankees finished as the #1 team in the AL. Thats pretty good - even though they once again did not make it past the first round of the playoffs I still enjoyed cheering for them this year and I expect better things next year. I really think that their only two good starting pitchers and a solid relief pitcher away from winning a World Series.

Comparison of military operational tactics (Snake model)
Infantry:
Snake smells them, leaves area.
Airborne:
Lands on and kills the snake.
Ranger:
Plays with snake, then eats it.
Marine:
Kills snake by accident while looking for souvenirs.
Local civilians demand removal of all US forces from Area of Operations.
Armor:
Runs over snake, laughs, and looks for more snakes.

Chimp trumps Stock Broker
"Our monkey whose ability to talk seems almost mundane when considered against his astounding stock-picking prowess, our readers are battling it out for the honor of guessing the stock that gains the most during the year."- The Chicago Sun Times
Thats right. Forget Allan Greenspan! The new stock market expert is........ A Brazilian Monkey!
The Chicago Sun Times has a monkey that "randomly" picks out stocks to invest in while some challanging stock market "expert" picks also. While believe it or not - the monkey won! He had 11% earnings on his stocks while the "expert" finished at 9%!
I always thought there was nothing to investing but luck....
