Patriots training camp visit # 2
Laurence Maroney the Pat's first pick this year gets his hands on the ball
Rodney Harrison returned to camp for his first practice on Monday. He looked like he was in great shape and his right knee/ankle (he tore it up last September) didn't seem to hamper him too much when he was in coverage. It also didn't appear however that he was trying to test it to see if it would snap again either....
Funny story- if you know football... About twenty minuints after practice had begun this family arrived and took the bleacher seats in front of us. As soon as the dad sat down he asked a friend setting next to him "where's Drew Bledsoe?"..... who knows, maybe he just woke up from a five year coma or something....
Peter got Tom Brady's autograph for the third stright time in a row.The Patriots play their first game (preseason) of the season tomorrow at Atlanta.

Babylon the Great is...rising, is rising!
Dubai is on the move. The United Arab Emirates city is located near the mouth of the Persian Gulf (click here to see a map). There is certainly a lot of money over there, given the oil revenues. Could Dubai be the new Babylon, or a forerunner of it? I have no idea; but it's an interesting question. Here's an except from a recent article on a big building boom going on over there:
Those looking for tranquil, unspoilt beaches, rustic charm and authentic maritime culture will probably choose to look elsewhere. But for the world's permatanned classes with bling to display and money to burn this extraordinary construction project in the Persian Gulf is an irresistible draw.
Begun in 2001, the Palm Islands are a 12-square-mile group off the shores of Dubai. With 14,000 labourers toiling day and night, the first of three unfeasibly large, palm shaped artificial islands, Palm Jumeirah, is nearing completion, and about to receive its first residents....
Once finished, the Palm Jumeirah, which extends four miles into the Gulf, will accommodate some 60,000 residents in 2,500 exclusive beachside villas, 2,500 apartments in 20 high-rise blocks and 50 luxury hotels.
At least 50,000 workers will staff the hotels, two marinas, water theme parks, restaurants, shopping malls, sports centres, health spas and cinemas.
Who knows. Just a thought.

It's August?
July went by so fast that I can't believe its August. Oh well, I guess that means that the debate year is almost upon us.
The Yankees once again pulled a fast one on the Red Sox by trading for Bobby Abreu & Cory Lidle and basically giving back nothing for them. They also picked up Craig Wilson a game changer with versatility from
Now – we will just have to see how they play.... But, they most certainly did better then the Red Sox who did no major trade deals even though they need help at several positions desperately.
Ok so that’s baseball. Moving on to the rest of the world - allegedly it was very hot outside today. Some went as far as to say we are experiencing a "heat wave". I was outside working with Peter and Aidan from 9am to 4: 30 pm and we had the radio on so we could listen to Rush Limbaugh. Well every thirty min’s we got to laugh our heads off when we heard the news updates which always included at least one comment about "stay inside today with air conditioning - Governor wants emergency cooling centers around the state to open - hospitals expanding to be prepared to treat millions of heatstroke victims - baaa baaaaa baa ba.”… Every once in a while I would turn to whoever working near me and say "is it really hot?” I guess temperature is all relative though because it did actually seem hot outside after I took a break to eat lunch inside with the air conditioning.
