Obama Wins South Carolina

...by a lot.

With 98% of the votes in, the results are as below (screen shot from cnn.com, get the updated numbers here).

John Edwards probably should dropout tomorrow due to his terrible numbers (18%) in a state neighboring the one where he was born... but he won't. Hillary also has to take quite a hit from this loss and she can't just say that she didn't try to win South Carolina because it wasn't too long ago that she was up by over 20% points in some polls over Obama there. In fact, going in to Super Tuesday, this loss could be fatal for the Clinton's. Momentum is HuGE in politics and Hillary doesn't have much MO right now and Obama does have it. In my view, the "slum lord" comment about Obama in the CNN debate last Monday really hurt her.

Stay tuned.

Update: Apparently Bill Clinton is trying to play off the SC results by saying that the Hillary lost because the South Carolina back population is raciest (only voted for Obama because he was black). He said quote, "Jesse Jackson won South Carolina in '84 and '88. Jackson ran a good campaign. And Obama ran a good campaign here."Yeah, maybe if Obama won by less then 10% points he might have had a point but Obama crushed Hillary by more than 25% points not 10. Bill can say whatever he wants but it wasn't just black people voting for Obama and the overwhelming numbers prove it. Maybe even some democrats just don't like Hillary?
