Patriots Sign Another CB
The Patriots signed former Detroit Loins cornerback Fernando Bryant yesterday to a one year contract. Bryant played and started all 16 of the Lions games last year and made 69 total tackles and two interceptions. He actually seems like a guy that might be able to make the roster when the season rolls around unlike some of the other Pat signings this offseason (Webster, Slaughter, etc...). It's possible he could be sort of like Tyrone Pool, one great year and done, but that's all we need. In my view at the very least he's an upgrade over Randle Gay.
According to the Boston Globe, Bryant was coached by the Patriots new secondary coach Dom Capers for one year (1999-2000) so maybe that's the connection that got this signing started.
